the answer is… anything you want!
Deciding what to wear to a concert can be a difficult task. It’s an event, so do I dress up a little bit? Do I go casual? Will I need a jacket?
There are 3 aspects I always consider when dressing:
- Am I sitting or standing?
- How far is the venue?
- Am I taking a bag?
A lot of my outfit decisions tend to depend on the first question. If I have seated tickets it means I can take a jacket and a pretty full bag, as once I’m at the venue I can place it all down on the seats and not worry about it.
Standing tickets, however are where it becomes difficult. There’s a high chance you’ll get too hot in the crowd and you’ll have to hold a jacket, or put it on the floor. Also, a filled bag becomes very heavy when worn for a prolonged period of time!
Of course there is the option of a cloakroom, however I am too stingy and way too impatient to have to wait in the queue at the end of the night for my jacket.
Here’s some inspo in what I’ve worn:
Jeans & backless top – this is my go to at the moment! Really really cute & practical because jeans have pockets. Throughout the concert I tend to put my phone in my pocket between my recordings.
Skirt & a bodysuit – a cute outfit for The 1975 at Finsbury Park, I didn’t get too hot in it. But it was hard to do back up in the portapotty!
Short Dress – I wore a dress to Community Festival. It kept me very cool, however I wasn’t able to comfortably lift my arms up, and it made getting off and on shoulders very awkward at points.

Jumpsuit – 8/10, super duper comfy and got a lot of compliments on it, but didn’t have any pockets!

Bandeau and flares – super cute because they were personalised. Trousers were comfy, however the bandeau became annoying as it had to be pulled up during the concert.

Shein blue bandeau

Shoes: trainers you’re happy to get dirty!! I tend to wear my Nike Air Force to give me a little extra height too.
Bag: Uniqlo cross body viral bag 10000%. Easy to wear and can fit so much in it.
Extra layer: Standing: small cardigan/ jumper that I can tie around my bag. Sitting: Jacket/ Coat
Standing – Pull & Bear Cropped Zip Hoodie
Sitting – Stradivarius Puffer Jacket
Going out to a concert should be an event, but it also should feel somewhat casual. Different events and artists of course call for different things, I wouldn’t wear the vibrant jumpsuit I wore to Harry Styles at Wembley to The Hunna in Southampton. So it is a case by case basis, but always make sure it is practical and comfortable.
Clothes are designed to be re-worn, so if you have a go-to concert outfit, such as jeans and a top, which you are comfortable in, and it works for you, continue to wear it!
I think that what you take in your bag is a much more important decision, so stay tuned for that post!
